NEW TO GROUND ZERO THEATER: Spider Baby (1967)

Featured Film / Ground Zero Theater: Spider Baby – The Maddest Story Ever Told!

This week, we’re diving deep into the shadows of cult cinema with Spider Baby: or, the Maddest Story Ever Told — a twisted 1967 comedy-horror gem by Jack Hill.

Starring the legendary Lon Chaney Jr., Spider Baby introduces us to Bruno, a loyal chauffeur caring for three orphaned siblings afflicted with a bizarre condition known as “Merrye Syndrome.”

This rare (and fictional) disorder causes the children to mentally and socially regress as they grow older — with darkly hilarious and horrifying results.

Initially overlooked on its release, Spider Baby has since crawled its way into cult classic territory, beloved for its offbeat tone, eerie performances, and genre-defying weirdness. It’s part haunted house, part madcap family drama, and all unforgettable.

Join us at Ground Zero Theater for a night of black comedy, eerie atmosphere, and cult film glory.

You’ve never seen anything quite like Spider Baby — and that’s a promise.
